The Trust
Wharekai Pēpē Charitable Trust was established by local Lactation Consultant (IBCLC), Cheryl Ganly Lewis in 2011 with the primary aim of providing accurate, timely and appropriate breastfeeding support to mothers and their families. We are overseen by a Board of Trustees, and run by a Committee of volunteers supported by our Clinical Director, Jane Scobie (IBCLC). Together, we run a weekly drop-in breastfeeding support group at Koraunui Marae in Stokes Valley.
Lactation Consultant
Jane is an International Board Certified Lactation Consultant (IBCLC), and is contracted by Wharekai Pēpē Charitable Trust to provide free lactation consultation to Mums attending our weekly breastfeeding support group. Jane has been a qualified IBCLC since 2016 and has invaluable experience both as a Lactation Consultant, and as a Registered Nurse specialising in paediatrics, she is also an antenatal educator.
Funding
Wharekai Pēpē is entirely funded by donations, grants and fundraising to provide free breastfeeding support to Mums. Unfortunately we don’t have enough funding to provide time or contact with Jane between our sessions. If you decide you would like time with Jane outside of Wharekai Pēpē you are most welcome to contact her directly to arrange a private consultation (which will of course incur a cost).
Contact
You are also welcome to email the Wharekai Pēpē volunteers or visit our Facebook page at any time with questions for support and we will do our best to help you. Please note our email and Facebook are checked by volunteers, so you may not receive an immediate reply.
